About Us

"The women in my small group are supportive, good listeners who share a wide variety of writing…I am on such a high!"

Women Writing for (a) Change
is for women who range from non-writers to experienced writers. It is for women who are seeking a community in which to discover or deepen their voices, who are in need of new sources of creative inspiration in their lives and their work, are in transition, or are wanting to explore writing as a spiritual or healing practice.

Women Writing for (a) Change provides respectful listening, confidentiality, and a supportive and welcoming community for all participants.

In classes, workshops and retreats, women discuss essays, stories, articles and poems, identify internal and external systems which silence women's voices, write to a variety of writing prompts, and are encouraged in their ongoing writing practice.

Women Writing for (a) Change is facilitated by Ann Leadbetter who is licensed by WWf(a)C/Cincinnati to bring the concepts and methods of this 15-year-old independent feminist creative writing center to Colorado. She began facilitating the Grand Junction program in 2004.

Ann is a teacher of writing at Mesa State College and has been active in WWf(a)C programs since 1996. Her writing has been published in Under the Sun, Life Learning, and Home Education Magazine.

"What commonalities we have as writers and women. It’s so wonderful to look inside your own heart and find that another person has been in the same place."
